experience in communications and marketing. Originally from Kennewick, Washington, Santral earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Arts in History from Eastern Washington University before pursuing Graduate work in Modern U.S. History at The American University.
Santral is currently the Assistant Regional Advisor for SCBWI Montana, where she works closely with a dedicated team of volunteers to provide connection and opportunity to SCBWI members. With her extensive background in design, marketing, events, project management, and communications, Santral has worked in a variety of cities including Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Portland. Her self-published book, Cloud Your Burps Are Loud, is the first in a three-part series.
As a creative and dynamic team member, Santral is passionate about curating an inclusive and welcoming environment for the community to share, learn, and grow together. She has gained valuable skills from her time working at The University of Oregon and the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Santral is committed to creating space for diverse voices and actively supports these efforts in her local community. She has led a reading camp for local school-age kids and frequently reads aloud at libraries, shops, and creative spaces.
Santral is inspired by the vibrant world around her and sees art as a medium through which our dreams can be expressed. She strongly believes that kids need to see themselves reflected in joy-filled stories, not just biographies, historical fiction, or cause books. Santral currently resides in Bozeman with her husband and two children.
